Pursuant to section 47(3) of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand hereby notifies the granting of the following exemptions:
- 1 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(a) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System - ship belongs to an organisation’s approved safe ship management system.
- 8 from Maritime Rule 21.13(1)(b) - Safe Ship Management Systems - Entry to and conditions to be met in order for ship to remain in Safe Ship Management System - New Zealand Safe Ship Management Certificate issued by Director.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 22, Appendix 1, 3(4) - Collision Prevention - Positioning and technical details of lights and shapes - Horizontal positioning and spacing of lights - masthead light prescribed for a power-driven vessel must be exhibited forward of amidships except vessel of less than 20 metres in length must exhibit it as far forward as practicable.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31B.9(1)(b) - Crewing and Watchkeeping. Offshore, Coastal and Restricted (Non-Fishing Vessels) - Passenger vessels - Inshore area - minimum crew specified in Table 2.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31B.14(1)(a) and (b) - Crewing and Watchkeeping. Offshore, Coastal and Restricted (Non-Fishing Vessels) - Non-passenger vessels - Inshore area - seafarers minimum required qualifications.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 31C.9 - Crewing and Watchkeeping Fishing Vessels - Operating Areas - Unlimited Area
- minimum required qualifications.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 32.19A(1)(b)(i) - Ships’ Personnel - Qualifications - Master of a foreign-going ship (master mariner) - Certificates of Competency - Master of a foreign-going ship (master mariner) - sea service must include 12 months service within the last ten years.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.12(2)(a) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - General passenger ships - Subdivision and stability - ship of 15 metres or more in length overall must be fitted with vertically continuous collision bulkhead that is watertight up to freeboard deck.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40A.17(1) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships
- Passenger accommodation - Shelter - ships proceeding beyond enclosed water limits must have spaces that provide shelter from weather.
- 2 from Maritime Rule 40A.21(1)(a) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Passenger Ships which are not SOLAS Ships - Toilet facilities - toilet facilities required by Table 40A.3 for unberthed passengers on ships not proceeding beyond the coastal limits.
- 5 from Maritime Rule 40C, Appendix 3.3, (3)(d) and (e) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Non-Passenger Ships that are not SOLAS Ships - Life saving appliances - Restricted coastal and restricted limit ships - ship not proceeding beyond restricted limits must carry either buoyant apparatus or lifebuoys.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 40C.12(1)(a) - Design, Construction and Equipment - Non-Passenger ships that are not SOLAS ships - General Non-Passenger Ships - Subdivision and stability - new ship of 15 metres or more in length overall must be fitted with vertically continuous collision bulkhead that is watertight up to freeboard deck.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 47.8(2)(a) - Load Lines - Ships of 24 metres or more in length - Owner’s and master’s obligations - compliance with this section and provisions of Articles 2, 3, 7, 10 to 15, Annex I and Annex II of the Load Line Convention.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 47.60(a) - Load Lines - Ships of less than 24 metres in length - Compliance with section 2 - owner and master of ship must not allow ship to proceed on a voyage unless it is surveyed and maintained.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 47.60(b)(i) - Load Lines - Ships of less than 24 metres in length - Compliance with section 2 - owner and master of ship must not allow ship to proceed on a voyage unless it is marked in accordance with requirements of rule 47.64.
- 1 from Maritime Rule 47.60(c)(i) - Load Lines - Ships of less than 24 metres in length - Compliance with section 2 - owner and master of ship must not allow ship to proceed on a voyage unless a valid New Zealand Load Line Certificate is issued in accordance with requirements of rule 47.67.
