Pursuant to section 161(3) of the Land Transport Act 1998, notification is given of the making of the Rules below that amend Land Transport Rules.
- Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Lighting Amendment 2011 (Rule 32005/5).
The objective of this amendment Rule is to make changes
to Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Lighting 2004 (Rule 32005) ("the Rule") to reflect the needs of vehicle operators, to ensure that the Rule is in line with current overseas standards and practice and is able to accommodate changing lighting technology, while ensuring that vehicles continue
to be operated safely on New Zealand’s roads.

- Land Transport Rule: Operator Licensing Amendment 2011 (Rule 81001/5);
- Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass Amendment 2011 (Rule 41001/6);
- Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Equipment Amendment 2011 (Rule 32017/4);
- Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Standards Compliance Amendment 2011 (Rule 35001/8);
- Land Transport Rule: Work Time and Logbooks Amendment 2011 (Rule 62001/3).
These amendment Rules clarify current requirements to assist understanding and enforcement, introduce flexibility for methods of calculating certain vehicle load dimensions, introduce limited exceptions to restrictions on overdimension vehicles to enable their use when needed in an emergency, amend requirements to accord with current industry needs or practices, remove unnecessary restrictions and requirements (without diminishing safety standards), make consequential changes as a result of changes to Rules and other legislation, align Rules with recent changes and upgrades to the State Highway network, and correct minor errors in Rules.
The seven amendment Rules come into force on 1 April 2011.
They are available for inspection free of charge at the National Office of the NZ Transport Agency, Victoria Arcade,
44 Victoria Street, Wellington, and at the NZ Transport Agency’s regional offices.
