Notice is hereby given that the Auckland City Council
("the Council"), under the provisions of section 23 of the Public Works Act 1981, proposes to take the land described in the Schedule hereto ("the land").
The land is required for open space purposes and the development of sports fields.
The intended taking is considered reasonably necessary
for the provision of sports fields in the area and to meet the active recreational needs of the community.
This will help to meet demand and address a major shortfall in sports fields and open space areas for the local community to gather and enjoy their local environment.
The land use is in accordance with the open space designation confirmed in the district plan.
The owner of the land and those persons with a registered interest in the land have been served with notice of the Council’s intention to take the land and advised of their right to object.
Any other person having the right to object may send a written objection to the Registrar, Environment Court, Tribunals Division, Department of Courts, PO Box 7147, Wellesley Street, Auckland, within 20 working days after the date of publication of this notice.
If any objection is made in accordance with this notice, a public hearing will be held.
The objector will have a right to appear and be heard personally, unless the objector otherwise requires.
Each objector will be informed of the time and place of the hearing.
