Notice of the Final Determination on an Antarctic Place Name

Pursuant to sections 10(1)(a), 25 and 21(2) of the New Zealand Geographic Board (Nga Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa) Act 2008, the New Zealand Geographic Board Nga Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa ("the Board") hereby gives notice of a final determined Antarctic place name.
This is now an official geographic name and is specified in the first column of the Schedule below ("the Schedule").
The geographic feature type that it relates to is set out in the second column of the Schedule.
The description for the name is set out in the third column of the Schedule.
The Board’s final determination on this Antarctic place name takes effect on 17 June 2010.

Feature Type Description
McPhail Turrets Rock 77°28'15?S, 162°42'E to 77°27'30?S, 162°46'E. Distinctive rock formations extending over the north-eastern end of Nichols Ridge, located in north-east Asgard Range, and south of Lake Brownworth. The feature is depicted on topographic maps: USGS Lake Brownworth (1:50,000); USGS ST57-60/6 Ross Island (1:250,000); and NZMS 166 ST58-61/5 McMurdo Sound (1:250,000). New name for an unnamed feature.
