Pursuant to section 130 of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 ("the Act"), the following notice is given by the Medical Laboratory Science Board. This notice sets out the prescribed fees, effective from 2 August 2010.

1. Title and commencement-(1) This notice may be cited as the Medical Laboratory Science Board (Fees) Notice 2010 and replaces the following notices:
(a) Notice of Fees Prescribed by the Medical Laboratory Science Board, dated the 6th day of September 2006 and published in the New Zealand Gazette, 14 September 2006, No. 107, page 3202;
(b) Medical Laboratory Science Board (Fees) Amendment Notice 2007, dated the 19th day of January 2007 and published in the New Zealand Gazette, 25 January 2007, No. 7, page 172;
(c) Medical Laboratory Science Board (Fees) Amendment Notice 2008, dated the 16th day of July 2008 and published in the New Zealand Gazette, 31 July 2008, No. 119, page 3161.
(2) This notice comes into force on 2 August 2010.
2. Tax-These fees are inclusive of goods and services tax (GST).
A. REGISTRATION AND CHANGE TO SCOPE OF PRACTICE FEES $
Application to register as a medical laboratory scientist (New Zealand graduate) 230.00
Application to register as a medical laboratory scientist (overseas graduate) 480.00
Application to register as a medical laboratory technician (New Zealand graduate) 120.00
Application to register as a medical laboratory technician (overseas graduate) 350.00
Application to be registered with a change to an existing scope of practice 230.00
B. ANNUAL PRACTISING CERTIFICATE FEES
Application for an annual practising certificate in the scope of practice of medical laboratory scientist 175.00
Application for an annual practising certificate in the scope of practice of medical laboratory technician 140.00
The Board will waive the fee for an annual practising certificate for new applicants who apply after
1 December in any year, for the remainder of the year to 31 March of the following year.
C. SUPPLY OF DOCUMENTS FEES
Issue of a certificate of registration 45.00
Issue of a certificate of registered information 45.00
Supplying a medical laboratory scientist or medical laboratory technician with any document for the purposes of seeking registration overseas 100.00
Issue of a replacement annual practising certificate declared lost 50.00
D. ACCREDITATION FEE
Fee for carrying out an accreditation review of an undergraduate degree programme 12,000.00
Fee for carrying out an accreditation of laboratory-based medical laboratory technician training courses provided by a single education provider 1,500.00
