Intention to Review the Approved Code of Practice for Excavation and Shafts for Foundations (1995)

Notice that the Secretary of Labour has asked the Minister of Labour to review the code of practice pursuant to section 20(1)(a) of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.
The current code sets out a statement of preferred work practices or arrangements for the health and safety practices for excavation and shafts for foundations.
This Approved Code of Practice for Excavation and Shafts for Foundations (1995) was published 15 years ago and is due for a review.
Accordingly we are seeking input and feedback on the current code.
The current code is available on the Department of Labour’s website
www.dol.govt.nz
It is intended that the reviewed code would apply to the construction and mining industries.
Interested parties are invited to comment on the proposed code.
Written submissions in relation to the approval of this code can be made by mail to Excavation and Shafts Approved Code of Practice Submissions, Technical Services, Department of Labour, PO Box 3705, Wellington, or email standards@dol.govt.nz with the subject line Excavation and Shafts Approved Code of Practice Submissions.
Submissions close on Friday 9 April 2010.
