Intention to Review the Approved Code of Practice for Forestry Operations (1999)

Notice that the Secretary of Labour has asked the Minister of Labour to review the code of practice pursuant to section 20(1)(a) of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.
The current code sets out a statement of preferred work practices or arrangements for the health and safety practices for the safe handling, transportation and erection of pre-cast concrete.
There is an industry working party that is reviewing
this current code and the outcome of this review will be to either review this Approved Code of Practice for Forestry Operations (1999) or possibly incorporate the material from some of the other Forestry Approved Codes of Practice.
We are seeking input and feedback on the current code.
The current code is available on the Department of Labour’s website
www.dol.govt.nz
It is intended that the reviewed code would apply to the forestry sector with other key stakeholders including
the electrical, arboriculture and transport sectors.
Interested parties are invited to comment on the proposed code.
Written submissions in relation to the approval of this code can be made by mail to Forestry Operations Approved
Code of Practice Submissions, Technical Services, Department of Labour, PO Box 3705, Wellington, or email standards@dol.govt.nz with the subject line Forestry Operations Approved Code of Practice Submissions.
Submissions close on Friday 9 April 2010.
Dated at Wellington this 18th day of February 2010.
CHRISTOPHER BLAKE, Secretary of Labour, Department of Labour.
