Notice that the Secretary of Labour has asked the Minister of Labour to review the code of practice pursuant to section 20(1)(a) of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.
The current code sets out a statement of preferred work practices or arrangements for the health and safety practices for the safe handling, transportation and erection of precast concrete.
There is an industry working party that is reviewing this current code and the outcome of this review will be to either review this approved code or to replace it with a Best Practice Guideline.
We are seeking input and feedback on the current code to be incorporated into the draft that is being written.
The current code is available on the Department of Labour’s website

It is intended that the reviewed code would apply to the
precast concrete industry with other key stakeholders including the construction and transport sectors.
Interested parties are invited to comment on the proposed code.
