Pursuant to section 79(5) of the Hazardous Substances
and New Organisms Act 1996 ("HSNO Act"), the Environmental Risk Management Authority advises that
it approved, on 23 February 2010, the Code of Practice HSNOCOP 37-2 Hazardous Atmosphere Zones - AS/NZS 60079.10.1:2009.
This code is intended to provide a means of compliance with Regulation 58 of the Hazardous Substances (Classes 1 to
5 Controls) Regulations 2001 in respect of the standards for the delineation of hazardous atmosphere zones.
This code has been developed by ERMA New Zealand
and enables AS/NZS 60079.10.1:2009: Explosive atmospheres - Classification of areas - Explosive gas atmospheres (IEC 60079-10-1, Ed.1.0(2008) MOD) to be used for the establishment of hazardous atmosphere zones
Pursuant to section 80(1) of the HSNO Act, this code may be inspected on request at the Wellington office of the Environmental Risk Management Authority of New Zealand, Level 1, BP House, 20 Customhouse Quay, Wellington.
Pursuant to section 80(1)(b) of the Act, the code can be downloaded from the ERMA New Zealand website.
