Under the Reserves Act 1977, the Conservation Support Manager for the East Coast Bay of Plenty Conservancy
of the Department of Conservation classifies the reserve described in the Schedule as a Government purpose (wildlife management) reserve and further declares the reserve shall form part of the Moutohora (Whale Island) Wildlife Management Reserve.
