Notice of Classification and Harbour Data for Redbait Entering the Quota Management System (QMS) on 1 October 2009

Pursuant to the Maori Fisheries Act 2004, I, Peter
Te Matakahere Douglas, Chief Executive of Te Ohu Kaimoana Trustee Limited, acting under the authority
of an Instrument of Delegation from the Board of Te Ohu Kaimoana Trustee Limited dated 25 March 2009, hereby give notice that I have made the following determinations under section 7(1) of the Maori Fisheries Act 2004.

Redbait - Stocks RBT 1, RBT 3, RBT 7
Redbait is a schooling, bathypelagic species (near bottom to mid-water) that is closely related to rubyfish. Redbait is a by-catch of mackerel and rubyfish. Most of the historical commercial catch has been taken by mid-water trawl and in depths of 300m or less from the surface.
This data indicates that redbait stocks are an Inshore species for classification purposes.
