Pursuant to section 170 of the Corrections Act 2004,
I, Judith Anne Collins, Minister of Corrections, hereby give notice that:
Firstly, on 21 December 2007, the Chief Executive of the Department of Corrections and Chubb New Zealand Limited entered into Variation (No.4) to the Agreement for the Provision of Prisoner Escort and Courtroom Custodial Services in the Auckland/Northland Region, being a security contract.
Variation (No.4) was effective from 21 December 2007.
In summary, Variation (No.4) obliges Chubb New Zealand Limited to provide courtroom custodial services at the Papakura District Court.
Secondly, on 24 July 2008, the Chief Executive of the Department of Corrections and Chubb New Zealand Limited entered into Variation (No.5) to the Agreement for the Provision of Prisoner Escort and Courtroom Custodial Services in the Auckland/Northland Region, being a security contract.
Variation (No.5) was effective from 12 May 2008.
In summary, Variation (No.5):
? requires Chubb New Zealand Limited to comply with the Government’s policies on the fitting and use of waist restraints for prisoners during escort;
? aligns Chubb New Zealand Limited’s requirements for scheduled rest stops during particular escorts with its obligations with respect to driver hours pursuant to the Land Transport Rule; and
? enables Chubb New Zealand Limited to be paid for the escorts of youths under specified conditions between prisons and Northland courts.
Thirdly, on 23 June 2009, the Chief Executive of the Department of Corrections and FIRST Security Guard Services 2008 Limited* entered into Variation (No.6) to the Agreement for the Provision of Prisoner Escort and Courtroom Custodial Services in the Auckland/Northland Region, being a security contract.
Variation (No.6) was effective from 1 July 2009.
In summary, Variation (No.6) extended the term of the Agreement to 31 January 2010.
