Intention to Apply for Approval of Amendments to the Approved Code of Practice for Cranes

Pursuant to section 20(1)(a) of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, the Secretary of Labour has asked the Minister to approve a code of practice.
The proposed code sets out a statement of preferred work practices or arrangements for the designers, manufacturers, suppliers, operators, maintainers and inspectors of cranes.
Amendments to the second edition of the Approved Code of Practice for Cranes were requested by members of the crane industry after expressing concern that the second edition of the approved code contained errors.
The Department of Labour has consulted widely with members of the crane industry and the public to prepare the draft amendments to the approved code.
The draft is available on the Department of Labour’s website
http://www.dol.govt.nz/consultation/index.asp.
Submissions close on Friday, 3 July 2009.
Dated at Wellington this 20th day of May 2009.
CHRISTOPHER BLAKE, Secretary of Labour, Department of Labour.
