Pursuant to section 65ZD(3) of the Public Finance Act 1989, the Minister of Finance makes the following statement:
"On 17 December 2008, I, The Honourable Bill English, Minister of Finance, on behalf of the Crown, gave certain indemnities as set in the Deed of Settlement in relation to the Waikato River between Her Majesty The Queen in the right of New Zealand and Waikato-Tainui dated 22 August 2008 to the Recipients (as that term is defined in paragraph 16.1.1 of that Deed) and which are to apply from the date of such Deed."
