Notice of Intention to Take Land for Local Purpose (Pedestrian) Reserve (Acquisition of Land for Access)—Bucklands Beach, Manukau City

Notice is hereby given that the Manukau City Council
(“the council”), under the provisions of section 23 of the Public Works Act 1981, proposes to take land described
in the Schedule hereto (“ the land”).
The land is required for local purpose (pedestrian) reserve.
The intended taking is considered reasonably necessary
for a pedestrian link, linking The Parade with Hattaway Avenue including Devon Road and The Parade with Bucklands Beach Road.
The pedestrian link will:
(a) improve pedestrian access to Bucklands Beach;
(b) enhance pedestrian safety;
(c) give certainty as to maintenance responsibilities; and
(d) give control over vehicular activity.
Council considers there are no other suitable or better alternative sites, routes or other methods of achieving
the above objectives and the acquisition of the land for
local purpose (pedestrian) reserve is considered reasonably necessary.
The owners of the land and those persons with a registered interest in it have been served with notice of the council’s intention to take the land and advised of their right to object.
Any other person having the right to object may send
a written objection to the Registrar, Environment Court, Tribunals Division, Ministry of Justice, PO Box 7147, Wellesley Street, Auckland, within 20 working days after the date of publication of this notice.
If any objection is made in accordance with this notice, a public hearing will be held.
The objector will have a right to appear and be heard personally, unless the objector otherwise requires.
Each objector will be informed of the time and place of the hearing.
Any person requiring further information in respect of
this advice should contact Allan Walton, Manukau City Council, Private Bag 76917, Manukau City 2241. Telephone: (09) 263 7100.
