Pursuant to section 12 of the New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946, notice was given on 15 May 2008 of the intention of the New Zealand Geographic Board Nga Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa, to alter place names, proposed as Waireinga Falls and Rangitoto ki te Tonga/D’Urville Island. Objections were received to these proposed names and were dealt with pursuant to section 13 of the said Act.
I hereby declare my decisions, made on 23 September 2008, are that the names of these places shall be as referred to in the first column of the Schedule below, as described in the second column of the said Schedule, and that these decisions take effect on 16 November 2008.

South Auckland Land District
Waireinga/Bridal Veil Falls Waterfall on the Pakoka River, north of Aotea Harbour, and approximately 11km south of Raglan, topographic map 260-Q15 & R15 Kawhia, GR 769 643. Alteration from Bridal Veil Falls to a dual name with the original Maori name.
Nelson Land District
Rangitoto ki te Tonga/D’Urville Island Major island at the northern extremity of Marlborough Sounds, topographic map 260-O26, P25 & Pt P26 D’Urville, GR 825 420. Updating the dual naming format from Rangitoto ki te Tonga (D’Urville Island) and replacing previous New Zealand Gazette, 17 February 1983, No. 18, page 409, and New Zealand Gazette, 19 January 1984, No. 3, page 89.
