Under the Reserves Act 1977, the Conservator for the Bay of Plenty Conservancy of the Department of Conservation vests the reserve described in the Schedule in the Bay of Plenty Regional Council, in trust as a local purpose reserve for soil conservation, river control, recreation and heritage purposes on the following terms and conditions;
(a) That the Crown reserves the right to cancel the vesting of the reserve in whole or in part if or when
the reserve is required for Treaty of Waitangi settlement purposes.
(b) That the Bay of Plenty Regional Council recognises local iwi have historical and cultural interests in the reserve and will consult with local iwi on all matters relating to the management of the reserve.
(c) That council will manage the reserve for the purposes for which it is classified, and in particular, ensure that the public continue to have access to the reserve for recreational and heritage purposes.
