Notice Recognising Regime of Compliance for the Purposes of Approval of Electrical Appliances and Fittings Before Being Offered for Sale

Pursuant to Regulation 101(10) of the Electricity Regulations 1997 (“Regulations”), I, Sanjai Deepak Raj, acting under delegated authority from the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Economic Development, hereby give public notice recognising the following regime of compliance for the purposes of Regulation 101(9) of the Regulations, in relation to the types of electrical appliances and fittings that are declared articles under Regulation 101(1) of the Regulations:
The regime for the issuing of a CCC Certificate and the applying of a CCC Mark under the “Agreement between the Government of New Zealand and the Government
of the People’s Republic of China on Co-operation in the Field of Conformity Assessment in Relation to Electrical and Electronic Equipment and Components”, which is Annex 14 of the “Free Trade Agreement between the Government of New Zealand and the Government of
the People’s Republic of China done at Beijing on
7 April 2008”.
This notice takes effect on and following the date of the publication of this notice in the New Zealand Gazette.

Explanatory Note
This explanatory note is not part of the notice, but it is intended to indicate its general effect.
By notice pursuant to Regulation 101(1) of the Electricity Regulations 1997 (“Regulations”) dated the 20th day of November 2006, certain types of electrical appliances and fittings listed in the Schedule of the notice were made “declared articles”, that is, they require approval under Regulation 101 of the Regulations before being offered for sale in New Zealand*.
Regulation 101(9) provides that a “declared article” is deemed to have the necessary approval if it is approved or certified by an organisation, agency, programme or regime recognised by the Secretary (the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Economic Development) under Regulation 101(10) of the Regulations and complies with any terms or conditions of approval or certification.
Regulation 101(10) provides that the Secretary may recognise an organisation, programme or regime of compliance by giving public notice.
In this notice the Secretary is giving public notice recognising a regime of compliance for the purposes of the approval of electrical appliances and fittings before being offered for sale.
