Pursuant to section 88A of the Education Act 1989, I prescribe the rent scheme for teachers' residences as follows:
A teacher or principal who is provided with residential accommodation under a service tenancy agreement by reason of his or her employment as a teacher or principal at a school must pay rent to the board of trustees of the school which is 75% of the market rent for the residence.
("Market rent" is the rent that, without regard to the
personal circumstances of the landlord or the tenant, a willing landlord might reasonably expect to receive and
a willing tenant might reasonably expect to pay for the tenancy, taking into consideration the general level of
rents for comparable tenancies of comparable premises
in the locality or in similar localities, as determined by
a registered valuer or other competent agency retained
by the board of trustees for that purpose.)
This notice takes effect the day after the date of publication.
