In accordance with section 161(2) of the Land Transport
Act 1998, Land Transport New Zealand, on behalf of
the Minister of Transport, gives notice of the Minister’s intention to make two Land Transport Rules, and advises that draft Land Transport Rule: Fuel Consumption Information (Rule 33020) and Land Transport Rule: Operator Licensing Amendment (Rule 81001/1) are available for public comment.
Land Transport Rule: Fuel Consumption Information
This draft Rule is intended to provide for the collection of accurate and reliable fuel consumption information for light vehicles entering the New Zealand fleet.
Land Transport Rule: Operator Licensing Amendment
The proposed Rule will amend Land Transport Rule: Operator Licensing 2007. The amendments would:
? require a vehicle that is involved in a service that is subject to transport service licensing to display a transport service licence (TSL) card;
? provide for Area Knowledge Certificates to be more relevant to the areas in which taxi drivers work;
? exempt an approved taxi organisation from requiring a person in control to hold a Certificate of Knowledge of Law and Practice in specified circumstances;
? prohibit “special interest vehicles” (ie certain vehicles that are excepted from complying with frontal impact
or exhaust emissions standards) from being used in a transport service;
? require every taxi operator to belong to an approved taxi organisation.
