Pursuant to section 79 of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996, the Environmental Risk Management Authority gives notice of the intention to apply for the approval of the Australian Standard AS 2187.1-1998 : Explosives – Storage, transport and use – Storage, as a code of practice.
The code sets out a means of compliance with the requirements of the Hazardous Substances (Classes 1 to
5 Controls) Regulations 2001 in respect of securing class
1 substances, the design of containers securing class 1 substances as well as segregation and separation distances for class 1 substances.
