In accordance with section 161(2) of the Land Transport
Act 1998, Land Transport New Zealand, on behalf of
the Minister of Transport, gives notice of the Minister’s intention to make a Rule relating to left-hand drive
vehicles, and advises that draft Land Transport Rule: Steering Systems Amendment (2009) (Rule 32003/2) is available for public comment.
This amendment Rule proposes to revise and update the current exemption regime applying to the certification and use on New Zealand roads of left-hand drive vehicles.
Its aim is to ensure that the process is effective, is not open to abuse and is free of unnecessary or outdated requirements.

Groups and individuals who have registered their interest have been advised of the availability of the draft amendment Rule.
