Notice of Intention to Take Land for Sewage Treatment Purposes-Queenstown Lakes District

Notice is hereby given that the Queenstown Lakes District Council, under the provisions of section 23 of the Public Works Act 1981, proposes to take land described in the Schedule hereto ("the land").
The land is required for sewage treatment purposes.
It is intended to use the land for a site for a sewage treatment facility.
The intended taking is considered reasonably necessary because:
(a) the projected population growth in the Wakatipu area is such that the present sewage discharge arrangements will be unable to support growth beyond the immediate future;
(b) land in the Queenstown Lakes District that is suitable for the siting of a new sewage disposal site is limited due to the need to control the treatment onto land; and
(c) the land described in the Schedule is suitable for the siting of a new sewage disposal facility due to
the proximity to the current facility and also the nature of the surrounding land.
The owners of the land and those persons with a registered interest in it have been served with notice of Queenstown Lakes District Council's intention to take the land and advised of their right to object.
Any other person having the right to object may send a written objection to the Registrar, Environment Court, Tribunals Division, Department for Courts, PO Box 5027, Wellington, on or before 28 February 2007.
If any objection is made in accordance with this notice, a public hearing will be held.
The objector will have a right to appear and be heard personally unless the objector otherwise requires.
Each objector will be informed of the time and place of the hearing.
Any person requiring further information in respect of
this advice should contact: Timothy Fischer, Macalister Todd Phillips, PO Box 653, Queenstown. Telephone: (03) 441 0125.
