Pursuant to Rule 91.20 of the Maritime Rules, I, James Lott, Manager Recreational Boating, Maritime New Zealand, hereby revoke the permanent uplifting of the speed limit
in place on the Urenui River, which comprises all that area of the river downstream of the footbridge and the total
area of water at all stages of the tide between the northern and southern banks of the Urenui River to the mouth at the coast.
All users of any part of the Urenui River must now
comply with the speed limit prescribed by Maritime Rule 91.6 at all times, and in particular Maritime Rule 91.6(1) which provides that:
No person may, without reasonable excuse, propel or navigate a vessel (including a vessel towing a person
or an object) at a proper speed exceeding 5 knots:
(a) within 50 metres of any other vessel, raft or person in the water; or
(b) within 200 metres of the shore or of any structure; or
(c) within 200 metres of any vessel or raft that is
flying Flag A of the International Code of Signals (diver's flag).
