To: The Chief Executive of the Ministry of Social Development.
Pursuant to section 5 of the Social Security Act 1964,
the Minister for Social Development and Employment makes the following amendment to the Ministerial
Direction – Living Alone Payments given on 23 November 1999*.
Dated at Wellington this 6th day of July 2006.
DAVID BENSON-POPE, Minister for Social Development and Employment.
______
A m e n d m e n t
1. Title—This amendment is the Ministerial Direction – Living Alone Payments Amendment 2006.
2. Commencement—This amendment comes into effect on 1 July 2006.
3. Direction amended—This amendment amends the Ministerial Direction – Living Alone Payments.
4. Revocations—The definition in clause 1 of household expenses, and clauses 3, 3A and 4 are revoked.
Explanatory Note
This note is not part of the amendment, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This amendment revokes the provisions of the Ministerial Direction – Living Alone Payments relating to sharing of household expenses with effect on 1 July 2006. Amendments to section 13 of the New Zealand Superannuation and Retirement Income Act 2001 and section 74U of the War Pensions Act 1954 that come into force on that date mean that a person sharing household expenses is no longer disqualified from receiving a living alone payment.
