Pursuant to section 5 of the Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978, the Director-General of Conservation notifies that
an application was received from Wendi Roe, Dr Padraig Duignan and Aurelie Castinel on 2 May 2006 to:
? export 31 skin tissue samples from New Zealand sea lion pups (Phocarctos hookeri) to the Institute of Zoology, England, for the purpose of immune response research.
All samples were collected during a Department of Conservation research programme on the Auckland
Islands in the past three years.
