90 km/h Speed Limit State Highway No. 2, Omokoroa to Tauranga

Pursuant to clause 6.3 of Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2003 (as inserted by Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits Amendment 2005) and a delegation from the Director of Land Transport, I, Peter Graeme Croft, Manager Networks, approve a 90 km/h speed limit on State Highway No. 2 in accordance with the conditions set out in this notice.
Conditions
1. 90 km/h Speed Limit
Transit New Zealand may set a 90 km/h speed limit on State Highway No. 2 from a point 200 metres north of Plummers Point Road at Omokoroa (RP 130/9.07) to a point 345 metres west of Carmichael Road at Bethlehem, Tauranga (RP 146/0.59), excluding the existing 80 km/h speed limit at Te Puna.
2. Monitoring
Transit New Zealand must monitor the speed of vehicles
and crashes in the 90 km/h sections of road and adjacent sections of road for a minimum two-year evaluation period as set out in the letter from Land Transport New Zealand to Transit New Zealand dated 30 January 2006.
3. Signs
Speed limit signs that comply with Land Transport Rule: Traffic Control Devices 2004 must be installed to mark
the beginning and end of the 90 km/h speed limit. Signs at each point where the speed limit changes and repeater signs must be installed in accordance with Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2003. Urban threshold signs must be installed at Bethlehem where the speed limit changes from 90 km/h to 50 km/h.
4. Bylaw
To set the 90 km/h speed limit approved in this notice, Transit New Zealand must make a bylaw in accordance
with Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2003.
