Under the Reserves Act 1977, the Conservator for the Northland Conservancy of the Department of Conservation classifies the reserve described in the Schedule as a local purpose (esplanade) reserve and further appoints the Trustees of Mahinepua B1 Maori Reservation to control and manage the reserve described in the Schedule as a local purpose (esplanade) reserve, subject to the provisions of the said Act.
