Pursuant to sections 42 (2) (a), 42 (3) and 48A of the
Nurses Act 1977, the Nursing Council of New Zealand
(“the council”), in a decision dated 4 February 2005, ordered that the name of Ian George Thomas, registered nurse, be removed from the Register, and declined to set a time when he might apply for reinstatement.
The council also ordered that Ian George Thomas pay $3,640.00 (being 40%) of the actual costs and expenses of and incidental to the inquiry by the preliminary proceedings committee and the council, and that a notice stating the
effect of the orders be published in the New Zealand Gazette, Kai Tiaki: Nursing New Zealand and the Nursing Council’s Newsletter and released to accredited members
of the media on request.
