Notice of Exemption for Controllers of Timber Treatment Vessels From Duties in the Health and Safety in Employment (Pressure Equipment, Cranes, and Passenger Ropeways) Regulations 1999

Pursuant to Regulation 5 of the Health and Safety in Employment (Pressure Equipment, Cranes, and Passenger Ropeways) Regulations 1999, I, K. A. Stewart, Acting Manager National Operations, in exercise of those powers delegated to me by the Secretary of Labour, give notice of
an exemption for controllers from those duties in Regulation 10 of the Health and Safety in Employment (Pressure Equipment, Cranes, and Passenger Ropeways) Regulations 1999, which requires them to ensure that equipment has a new or current certificate of inspection before it is put into operation.
This exemption is for controllers of timber treatment vessels that were in service prior to 1 March 2004 and which contain water borne preservatives categorised within the New Zealand timber treatment industry as copper chrome arsenate, alkaline copper quaternary, copper azole or boron.
