Pursuant to section 5 of the Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978, the Director-General of Conservation notifies that the following application was received from Dr Stuart Parsons, University of Auckland, on 30 October 2005 to:
? Export rectum/colon samples from five dead pygmy sperm whales to Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, New York, for the purpose of histological analysis.
? Return the samples to New Zealand once the research
is complete.
