Pursuant to section 105A of the Education Act 1989
(“the Act”), I hereby approve the following constitution for the board of trustees of Waitati School:
? The principal;
? one staff representative;
? six trustees appointed by the Minister of Education; and
? up to two trustees co-opted by the board.
The appointment or co-option of a trustee may be for a term not exceeding three years.
The staff representative will be elected in accordance with sections 97 (1) and 101 of the Act and the Education (School Trustees Election) Regulations 2000.
In addition, all relevant provisions under Part 9 of the Act will apply to the staff representative.
For the first and subsequent elections for a staff representative, a returning officer will be appointed by the board and will carry out the duties in accordance with
the Education (School Trustees Election) Regulations 2000.
Trustees appointed to the first board established under section 105A of the Education Act will take office on
16 September 2005.
This notice takes effect the day after the date of its publication.
