Notice of Amendment to Requirements of Holders of Certificates of Competence Under the Health and Safety in Employment (Mining Administration) Regulations 1996

Pursuant to Regulation 20 of the Health and Safety in Employment (Mining Administration) Regulations 1996, I, James Buwalda, Secretary of Labour, hereby give notice of amendment to the qualifications and experience required to hold a certificate of competence listed in Regulation 16 of the Health and Safety in Employment (Mining Administration) Regulations 1996.
N o t i c e
1. Commencement-This notice has effect from 1 August 2005.
2. Amendment to principal notice-This notice amends the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette, 27 January 2005, No. 30, page 723 ("the principal notice") and must be read together with that notice.
3. New unit standards substituted-
(1) Group 4 of the Appendix to the principal notice is amended by deleting the following unit standard:
Level Credits
15668 Demonstrate knowledge of mining methods for underground coal 6 20
(2) Group 4 of the Appendix to the principal notice is further amended by adding the following unit standards:
Level Credits
18704 Demonstrate knowledge of fluid power systems used in underground mines 4 10
21661 Demonstrate knowledge of the use of electrical reticulation plant and equipment in underground mines 4 10
21662 Demonstrate knowledge of development and extraction plant and methods for underground coal mining 4 15
