In the matter of the Law Practitioners Act 1982
Pursuant to section 119 of the Law Practitioners Act 1982, notice is hereby given that on 10 July 2003, the
New Zealand Law Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal ordered as follows:
1. That Julien Michel Leys be suspended from practice as a barrister and as a solicitor, for a period of three years commencing from 10 July 2003.
2. Julien Michel Leys be censured on each of the charges.
3. That Julien Michel Leys pay a contribution towards the costs of the Auckland District Law Society in the sum of $20,000.00
4. In respect of the costs of the tribunal, Julien Michel Leys pay to New Zealand Law Society the sum of $11,103.00.
5. The interim orders prohibiting publication of any report or any account of the particulars of the charges, of any of the contents of the affidavits in support of the charges, or any of the material contained within the exhibits attached to those affidavits and of any submissions made before the tribunal, be made final.
