Pursuant to Regulation 64 (1) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and under delegated authority, I, John Patrick
White, Manager Safer Vehicle Policy, Land Transport
New Zealand, hereby approve the fitting of side-marker lamps to the vehicles specified in Schedule 1 of this notice, subject to the conditions specified in Schedule 2.
Schedule 1
Approved vehicles
Heavy vehicles, being those of Classes NB, NC, MD, ME, TC or TD, or any other vehicle not in these classes whose Gross Vehicle Mass exceeds 3500kg, that are first registered in New Zealand before 27 February 2005.
Schedule 2
Conditions
The lamps must:
(i) Display to the front so as not to be visible from the rear a light substantially white or amber in colour visible through an angle of 60 degrees above and
60 degrees below a horizontal plane passing through the lamp and through an angle of 60 degrees forward of a vertical plane passing through the lamp at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle; and
(ii) Display to the rear so as not to be visible from the front a light substantially red or amber in colour visible through an angle of 60 degrees above and
60 degrees below a horizontal plane passing through the lamp and through an angle of 60 degrees to the rear of a vertical plane passing through the lamp at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle.
