Notice of Intention to Take Land for the Development of a Recreation Reserve and Public Open Space-33 The Strand, Takapuna, Auckland

Notice is hereby given that the North Shore City Council ("the council"), under the provisions of section 23 of the Public Works Act 1981, proposes to take land described in the Schedule hereto ("the land").
The land is required for the development of a recreation reserve and public open space.
The intended taking is considered reasonably necessary for:
(a) the greater good of the public;
(b) the consolidation of the surrounding recreation reserve and public open space between Hurstmere Road and the coastline;
(c) the enhancement of public access to and enjoyment of the existing recreation reserve and the coastline; and
(d) the expansion of community and leisure facilities to cater for an increasing urban population.
The owners of the land and those persons with a registered interest in it have been served with notice of the council's intention to take the land and advised of their right to object.
Any other person having the right to object may send
a written objection to the Registrar, Environment Court, Tribunals Division, Ministry of Justice, P.O. Box 5027, Wellington, within 20 working days after the date of publication of this notice.
If any objection is made in accordance with this notice,
a public hearing will be held.
The objector will have a right to appear and be heard personally unless the objector otherwise requires.
Each objector will be informed of the time and place of the hearing.
