Under the Conservation Act 1987, and a delegation from
the Minister of Conservation, the Acting Conservator for the West Coast Conservancy of the Department of Conservation declares that the land in the Schedule is held for conservation purposes and further, declares that the land is to be held as a wilderness area to be known as the Paparoa Wilderness Area.
