Pursuant to sections 42 (1) (b), 42 (2) (a), 42 (3) and 48A of the Nurses Act 1977, the Nursing Council of New Zealand ("the council"), in a decision dated 23 December 2003, ordered that the name James John Dunn, registered comprehensive nurse, be removed from the Register
of comprehensive nurses.
The council also ordered that James John Dunn could reapply for reinstatement to the Register after a period of one year, that James John Dunn pay $4,015.00 (being 35%) of the actual costs and expenses of and incidental to the investigation by the preliminary proceedings committee and inquiry by the council, and that a notice stating the effect of the orders be published in the New Zealand Gazette, Kai Tiaki: Nursing New Zealand, the council's newsletter and released to accredited members of the media with details of the institution and other staff members suppressed.
