Seasonal Work Assistance Amendment 2004

Pursuant to section 124 (1) (d) of the Social Security Act 1964, the Minister for Social Development and Employment establishes and approves the following amendment to the Seasonal Work Assistance Programme (as established and approved on 7 July 2002).

A m e n d m e n t
1. Title-(1) This amendment is the Seasonal Work Assistance Amendment 2004.
(2) In this amendment, the Seasonal Work Assistance Programme is called "the programme".
2. Commencement-This amendment, except for clauses 4 and 5, comes into effect on 31 March 2004.
(2) Clauses 4 and 5 come into effect on 1 April 2004.
3. Omitting reference to transitional retirement benefit-The definition of working-age benefit in clause 4 (1) of the programme is amended by revoking paragraph (g).
4. Amount and limits of payments-Clause 7 (3) of
the programme is amended by omitting the expression "$620" and substituting the expression "$630".
5. Schedule 1 substituted-The programme is amended by revoking Schedule 1 and substituting the new Schedule 1 set out in the Schedule.

Explanatory Note
This note is not part of the amendment, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This amendment, which comes into effect on 31 March 2004, omits the reference to a transitional retirement benefit in
the definition of working-age benefit in clause 4 (1) of the programme.
Clauses 4 and 5 of this amendment, which come into effect on 1 April 2004, increase the maximum weekly amounts and maximum amount of seasonal work assistance payments under the Seasonal Work Assistance Programme to take account of a CPI increase of 1.55%.
