Wairarapa Rural Fire District Constitution and Administration Notice 2004

Pursuant to sections 4 (1) and 8 (1) of the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977, the National Rural Fire Authority hereby makes the following notice.

1. Title and commencement-(1) This notice is the Wairarapa Rural Fire District Constitution and Administration Notice 2004.
(2) This notice comes into force on 1 December 2004.
2. Constitution of the Wairarapa Rural Fire District-The areas set out in the Schedule to this notice are hereby constituted and declared to be a rural fire district to be known as the Wairarapa Rural Fire District.
3. Constitution of the Wairarapa Rural Fire Committee
-The Wairarapa Rural Fire District Committee is hereby constituted as a rural fire committee.
4. Administration of the Wairarapa Rural Fire District
-(1) For the purposes of the Forest and Rural Fires Act
1977, the Wairarapa Rural Fire District shall be administered by the Wairarapa Rural Fire District Committee.
(2) The committee shall consist of six members as follows:
(a) One person appointed, in writing, by the Masterton District Council; and
(b) one person appointed, in writing, by the Carterton District Council; and
(c) one person appointed, in writing, by the South Wairarapa District Council; and
(d) one person appointed, in writing, by the Department of Conservation under the signature of its Director-General; and
(e) one person appointed in writing by the chief executives of Juken New Zealand Limited, P F Olsen and Company Limited, Forest Enterprises Limited and the Anglican Schools Forestry Trust, after such consultation as the chief executives consider appropriate; and
(f) one person appointed by the New Zealand Fire Service under the signature of its chief executive.
(3) In the event that any appointment to be made under 4 (2) (e) is not carried out within three months of the date by which the appointment should be made, the national rural fire officer may appoint to the committee some fit person who shall represent the interest of the organisations described in 4 (2) (e).
5. Schedule-(1) All those parcels shown on SO 35990 titled "Masterton District", SO 35993 titled "Carterton District" and SO 35998 titled "South Wairarapa District". For ease of reference, that land is also shown on plans numbered NRFA 142 deposited in the National Headquarters of the New Zealand Fire Service at Wellington.
(2) Excluded from the Wairarapa Rural Fire District are
all "fire districts" as defined in section 2 of the Fire Service Act 1975.
