Pursuant to section 26ZS of the Conservation Act 1987,
the Conservator for the Tongariro/Taupo Conservancy
of the Department of Conservation hereby declares the
areas described in the Schedule hereto to be controlled dog areas, and further declares that the said controlled areas
be known as the Tongariro Controlled Dog Area, the Eura Controlled Dog Area and the Rangataua Controlled Dog Area, and further imposes the following conditions:
Controlled dog area permits for dog use within these areas will only be issued for dogs which meet the following criteria:
? The dog is certified as a threatened species dog and is involved in bona fide threatened species management programmes; or
? the dog has entered a Department of Conservation sponsored Avian Aversion Training Programme; and
? the dog is clearly identified by a permanent brand, tattoo or other recognised identification mark.
All controlled dog area permits issued for these areas will be subject to the following conditions:
? The dog must be tied up at night unless it is involved in bona fide management work as part of the National Kiwi Recovery Programme; and
? the dog must not be kennelled in or under any hut; and
? it is mandatory to report any dogs lost in the areas subject to this policy.
