After due inquiry and in exercise of its powers under sections 42 (1) (b), 42 (2) (b), 42 (3), 48A and 48F of the Nurses Act 1977, the Nursing Council of New Zealand
("the council"), in a decision dated 6 October 2003, ordered that a registered general and obstetric nurse and midwife be suspended for a period of 12 months.
The council also ordered that the nurse pay $3,770.00 (being 20%) towards the actual costs and expenses of and incidental to the investigation and prosecution by the director of proceedings and inquiry by the council, and ordered that a notice stating the effect of these orders be published in the New Zealand Gazette, Kai Tiaki: Nursing New Zealand, and the nursing council's newsletter with the names of all parties and identifying features of the case suppressed.
