Pursuant to section 39 (4) of the Wool Board Act 1997, notice is hereby given that from and including 1 July
2003, the rate of Wool Board levy and bases of calculation shall be:
(a) In respect of shorn wool, dags and dag wool sold
in New Zealand for the first time, to or through a designated levy collection agent at auction, privately, on an electronic trading system or through alternative marketing systems, for example pools and tenders, 7 cents per kilogram of the actual number of kilograms of wool sold.
(b) In respect of greasy, scoured and dag wool which is exported from New Zealand and on which levy has not previously been paid, 7 cents per kilogram of the actual number of kilograms of wool exported.
(c) In respect of slipe wool and fellmongered wool,
7 cents per kilogram of the actual number of kilograms of slipe wool produced in New Zealand from sliping or fellmongering.
(d) In respect of wool on the skin, 1.0% of the gross proceeds received from the sale of the sheepskin.
(e) In respect of all wool (as defined in the Wool Board Act 1997) other than that falling into the categories (a) to (d) above, e.g. processed and manufactured wool, which is either sold in New Zealand or exported from New Zealand, 7 cents per kilogram of the actual number of kilograms of greasy or slipe wool included in the product and on which levy has not previously been paid. In the event of any dispute or doubt, the Board may assess the actual number of kilograms included in the product.
