After due inquiry and in exercise of its powers under sections 42 (2) (d), 42 (3), 43, 48A and 48F of the Nurses Act 1977, the Nursing Council of New Zealand ("the council") in a decision dated 6 March 2002, ordered that Harangi Biddle, registered general and obstetric nurse and midwife, only practise subject to conditions.
The council also ordered that Harangi Biddle pay $27,272.00 (being 50%) towards the actual costs and expenses of and incidental to the investigation and prosecution by the Director of Proceedings of the Health & Disability Commissioner's office and inquiry by the council.
It ordered that a notice stating the effect of these orders be published in the New Zealand Gazette, Kai Tiaki: Nursing New Zealand, nursing council's newsletter and Midwifery News, and provided to accredited members of the press, upon request, with suppression of the names of all witnesses and identifying features of the case.
MARION CLARK, Registrar.
