Comprehensive Nurse
After due inquiry and in exercise of powers under sections 42 (1) (b), 42 (2) (b) (a), 42 (3) and 48A of the Nurses Act 1977, the Nursing Council of New Zealand ("the council"), in a decision dated 15 August 2002, found a registered comprehensive nurse guilty of professional misconduct on the grounds of negligence.
The council ordered that the nurse practise subject to
certain conditions for a 12-month period after which
those conditions will be reviewed to determine if a further conditional period, not exceeding two years, is required.
The nurse was also ordered to pay $6150.00 (being 20%) towards the actual costs and expenses of and incidental
to the investigation and prosecution by the preliminary proceedings committee and inquiry by the council and that a notice stating the effect of these orders be published in the New Zealand Gazette, Kai Tiaki: Nursing New Zealand and the nursing council's newsletter with permanent suppression of the name of the nurse.
MARION CLARK, Registrar.
