The Board of the Tertiary Education Commission
Te Amorangi Matauranga Matua approved, pursuant to section 5 of the Industry Training Act 1992, an extension of coverage for the Extractives Industry Training Organisation to set standards at Levels 1 to 8 on the National Qualifications Framework for the gas distribution, reticulation, sales, repair and maintenance, petrochemical and abrasive blasting industries.
It will set standards on the National Qualifications Framework in the following areas, effective from
1 November 2003:
Gas engineering, pipeline mechanical inspection, gas metering, governor fitting, gas measuring, appliance servicing, mains and service laying, leakage surveying, specialist meter reading, plant/process operations in the exploration/production, hydrocarbon refining and petrochemical processing sectors of the petrochemical industry and petrochemical industry specific skills, geoscientists, engineers (chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical and process), mechanical instrumentation and electrical tradepersons, metering and telemetry technicians, cathodic technicians, abrasive blasting covering; abrasive blasting, blasting coating operations and protective coating industry at Levels 1 to 8 on the National Qualifications Framework with effect from
1 November 2003.
