Declaration Notice

Pursuant to Regulation 15 of the Marine Mammals Protection Regulations 1992, I, Alastair Morrison, Acting Director-General of Conservation, give notice that for a period of 10 years from the date of this notice, no new permits shall be granted for the following commercial operations:
1. Swimming with New Zealand fur seals along
the Kaikoura coast (defined here as all those
waters between the Clarence River Mouth
(173 56? E, 42 10? S) and the Conway River
Mouth (173 28? E, 42 37? S) and extending out
due east to one nautical mile from the shore).
2. Swimming with New Zealand fur seals along the
Abel Tasman coast (defined here as all those waters between Anawera Point (173 01? E, 41 03? S) and Tata Beach (172 55? E, 40 49? S) and extending
out perpendicular to the shore to one nautical mile from the shore).
3. Viewing New Zealand fur seals within 500m of Ohau Point (173 50? E, 42 15? S), Kaikoura coast.
This declaration does not apply to any applications to
renew existing commercial permits for the locations specified above.
