New Zealand Accredited Body

The Chief Executive of the Department of Child, Youth
& Family Services has approved
Inter-Country Adoption New Zealand (ICANZ)
as a New Zealand accredited body pursuant to section 17 of the Adoption (Intercountry) Act 1997.
The chief executive has delegated to ICANZ those functions set out in Articles 9, 18 and 20, and paragraphs 2 and 3
of Article 19 of the Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption, according to Regulation 3 (1) (a), (c), (d) and (e) of the Adoption (Intercountry) Regulations 1998.
The approval is subject to the condition that ICANZ enters into a Memorandum of Understanding with the chief executive, on terms to her satisfaction, to formalise the ongoing relationship of ICANZ with the department and to facilitate the ongoing review of ICANZ, its processes and documentation, as required by the New Zealand Central Authority to determine whether ICANZ's approval as a
New Zealand accredited body should continue.
