Pursuant to section 78M of the Education Act 1989, I direct the Secretary for Education to appoint a limited statutory manager to Whitiora School because of risks to the safety of staff and students; the resultant risks to student learning and the lack of effective communication between the principal and staff.
The following functions, powers and duties of the board are vested in the limited statutory manager:
? management of personnel issues, including performance management of the principal and staff.
The limited statutory manager must also advise the board on the following matters:
? effective communication systems within the school and between the school and its community; and
? behaviour management policies and procedures.
This notice takes effect the day after the date of publication of this notice.
