Pursuant to section 13 of the Fisheries Act 1996, the Minister of Fisheries gives the following notice.
N o t i c e
1. Title-(1) This notice is the Fisheries (Southern Blue Whiting Total Allowable Catch) Amendment Notice 2003.
(2) In this notice, the Fisheries (Southern Blue Whiting Total Allowable Catch) Notice 2000 (S.R. 2000/48) is called "the principal notice".
2. Commencement-This notice comes into force on
31 March 2003.
3. Application-This notice applies on and after 1 April 2003.
4. Interpretation-Clause 3 of the principal notice is amended by revoking paragraph (b) and substituting the following paragraph:
(b) the fish stock codes referred to in the Schedule have the same meaning as in Schedule 3 of the Fisheries (Reporting) Regulations 2001 (S.R. 2001/188);
5. Schedule amended-The Schedule of the principal notice is amended by:
(1) omitting from the final column the expression
"8 000" and substituting the expression "3 500"; and
(2) omitting from the final column the expression "30 000" and substituting the expression "25 000".

Explanatory Note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This notice amends the Fisheries (Southern Blue Whiting Total Allowable Catch) Notice 2000. The amendment decreases the total allowable catch for southern blue whiting in the quota management area SBW6B (Bounty Platform) from 8,000 tonnes to 3,500 tonnes, and decreases the total allowable catch for southern blue whiting in the quota management area SBW6I (Campbell Rise) from 30,000 tonnes to 25,000 tonnes on and from 1 April 2003.
